Selected doctors do not start work even after 7 months, we are waiting for the vacancies to be released

KHUCS

Six specialist doctors selected for the Psychiatry Clinic and the Infectious Diseases Clinic have been waiting for months to start work, while the SHSKUK says that their engagement depends on the availability of jobs and budgetary opportunities. Meanwhile, the health expert considers the way this process has developed unusual.

Seven months have passed since the announcement of the final results of the competition for specialist doctors in the Psychiatry and Infectious Diseases Clinics, but the selected candidates have not yet started work.

In the open competition in November last year, four infectious disease specialists and two psychiatrists were selected.
The Kosovo Clinical and University Hospital Service said that the delay is related to the fact that the positions for which the candidates were selected have not yet been vacated.

According to SHSKUK, their employment will be subject to the creation of vacancies and budgetary capacities.

"The selected candidates will be invited to start work in accordance with the vacancy of the positions and the budgetary opportunities foreseen for these positions. These positions are planned, among other things, also in the framework of replacing the positions that will be vacant in the coming months," the Recruitment Division at SHSKUK announced.

But, even though seven months have passed since the results were announced, SHSKUK has still not set a date for when the new doctors can start working.

"Therefore, the selected candidates will be invited within the year, according to the dynamics of job vacancies and in accordance with the planned budget for these positions. As for the exact start date, it will be determined based on these circumstances and relevant administrative procedures," the response from the Recruitment Division of SHSKUK states.

Health expert Bujar Vitija considers the way this process has developed unusual, raising questions about how the competition was opened and the candidates were selected, when there are still no vacancies for them.

"For me it is very strange and problematic how the competition was opened without any vacancies. This is certainly a consequence of the budget and the lack of vacancies and vacancies opened by the Ministry of Finance for UCCK. However, the problem remains how this competition was opened and how this waiting list was created, with what legislation," Vitija declared.

KOHA has previously reported on the requests of clinic managers for additional staff, who, among the justifications for the long waiting lists, have specifically mentioned the lack of specialist doctors.
