Citroen presents the C5 Aircross hybrid model

The French company Citroen presented a hybrid version of its C5 Aircross model, writes Autoblog.

Citroen has enriched the C5 Aircross SUV offer with a plug-in hybrid version, which joins the already available diesel and petrol options.

The Hybrid 136 vehicle includes the addition of 48 V hybrid technology to the Puretech gasoline engine. Citroen claims that thanks to the 21 kW electric motor and 6-speed automatic transmission, the 1.2-liter 134 hp engine achieves up to 30 percent fuel savings when driving in the city. This Euro 6 engine emits 129 grams of CO2/km, almost 12 percent less than the diesel version and 15 percent less than the "clean" gasoline version.

The prices between hybrid and diesel do not differ much, even though the engine is specially designed for hybridization. About 40 percent of the parts are completely new and configured so that the new hybrid technology does not compromise the space in the trunk and interior.
