Egbo also aims for trophies with Pristina

Three years ago, Emmanuel Egbo won the title with the club from the capital of Albania, Tirana. The 50-year-old coach from Nigeria aims to win trophies with the club of the capital of Kosovo, Pristina. But he admits that achieving Pristina's goals to win trophies will be difficult without the commitment of everyone at the club. Egbo, on Thursday, became the official coach of Pristina, a few hours after the club announced the departure of Debatik Curri.

Egbo said that Pristina is a big club in Kosovo. He admits that running Pristina will be a challenge for him. But he is confident that he can achieve the goals of the "blue and white" club.

"I don't know the team closely, but I have followed the team in the past, but also recently from TV footage in Albania, but also from video matches. But the objectives are clear. The least achievement is Europe, why not even higher, but this can only be achieved by uniting all the club's workers up to the most important footballer of the team", said Egbo for the official website of the Prishtina club.

Prishtina won the last title in the 2020/2021 edition. In total, it has won 11 since 1991. Prishtina is the current winner of the Kosovo Cup, which it won under the leadership of Debatik Curri. Most likely, the triumph in the Cup will also be the main objective of the club.

Egbo was recently an assistant at the Albanian club, Albanët, while he also coached the Saudi team, Ohod.

"I know Pristina, it is the biggest club in Kosovo, there is no question about the trophies it has won and the many events it has done with Kosovo football. It wasn't too difficult to accept the offer. After explaining the plans and objectives that the club has and being a guy who loves challenges, given that I also worked in Tirana, as the pinnacle of football in Albania, I know what pressure clubs like Prishtina have and I didn't find it difficult to I accepted the job. It will be a good idea to cooperate with the club", he emphasized.

The coach from Albania, Eldiano Topi, will also help Egbos closely. Egbo has been the goalkeeper of many teams, among them Tirana and Bylisi. Later, he also worked as a goalkeeper coach for both teams. As the first coach in Tirana, he was appointed in the 2019/2020 edition, which he ended with the title of champion of Albania.

The sports director of Pristina, Driton Krasniqi, is confident that Egbo will realize the goals of the blue and white club.

"We thank coach Curri for the work he has done in the team. Normally, Prishtina always wants results and results were the reason we had to share jobs with Curri. Normally we can't say that it was Curri's fault, but the decision always falls to the coach, this is the law in football. I also welcome the new coach, Egbo, who I believe will do his best for the team to achieve the best for the objectives we have. The team is unknown to him, but he needs a short time until he gets to know the staff, the players, and I believe that he will be able to fulfill the club's objectives", said Krasniqi.

Prishtina is in fourth place with 13 points from ten games. It is ten points behind the champion of Kosovo, the Balkans, which has a less developed game. In fact, Prishtina is without a win in the last seven championship games, where it has recorded six draws and one loss. Egbo in charge of Pristina is expected to debut on Saturday in the match against Gjilan. This match is played at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium from 13:00 and belongs to the 11th round in the elite of Kosovar football.
