The Spanish Federation's Competition Committee has banned Jude Bellingham for two matches for his red card against Osasuna.
The Real Madrid midfielder was sent off with a straight red card after directing inappropriate words at referee Munuera Montero.
Bellingham's booking was widely discussed in the public. Real claim that the 21-year-old did not directly address referee Montero with an insult.
But the Competition Committee said it was impossible to prove whether Bellingham had not directly insulted the referee.
Real Madrid will appeal the decision.
Los Blancos were leading 0:1 against Osasuna, but the hosts equalized in the second half – at a time when Real were playing with one less player.
