Spanish referee Munuera Montero has said he received threats and insults after sending off Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham in the weekend's Spanish league match between Osasuna and Real Madrid.
"I have received hundreds and thousands of messages with threats and insults. Before I accept them again, I deleted my LinkedIn profile, so that this does not happen again. Am I scared? No, it is for my protection and that of my family," Montero said.
He will not be officiating any matches this week. This is not based on past performance, but on a potential link with the company Talentus Sport, which has links to other clubs, including Atletico.
Montero will not refer until this is clarified.
According to Marca, Munuera Montero will not be refereeing matches in European competitions until further notice.
