MINTI extends the measure to limit fuel prices for another 30 days

LIE

The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI) has decided to extend the temporary measure for regulating maximum fuel prices for another 30 days, with the aim of protecting consumers and guaranteeing reasonable prices in the market.

According to the ministry, the decision was made after continuous market monitoring and analysis of Kosovo Customs data, which show that import prices of fuels have not decreased. It has also been found that price movements in international markets are reflected in the domestic market mainly when they increase, while decreases are not fully reflected or occur with a delay.

With the new decision, the maximum wholesale price will be calculated based on the average supply price recorded by Customs, plus 2 eurocents per liter. Meanwhile, the maximum retail price will be plus 12 eurocents per liter.

MINTI has called on all entities that trade in petroleum products to respect the maximum prices set and ensure regular market supply.

The Ministry announces that the implementation of the decision will be supervised by the Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance, in cooperation with Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Tax Administration.

According to MINTI, the measure aims to protect consumers from unjustified price increases, maintain fair competition, and guarantee the normal and transparent functioning of the petroleum derivatives market.

"Entities that do not comply with the decision will be subject to punitive measures in accordance with applicable legislation," the announcement states.

MINTI decided to set fuel prices in early March, a few days after the outbreak of war between the US, Israel and Iran. The war reflected an increase in fuel prices due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
