Ibishi: Thermal power plants to undergo overhaul, there is no safety for workers

Arian Ibishi

Arian Ibishi, an expert on Occupational Safety and Health, said that working conditions in thermal power plants are extremely dangerous. According to Ibishi, there is not just one risk factor but a combination of risks.

Ibishi expressed on the "Interaktiv" show on KTV that his recommendation is that the power plants undergo overhaul because, according to him, the conditions for operation are not met.

Within a month, two KEK workers have lost their lives from injuries at work. One of them after injuries sustained on Sunday night.

"When we talk about KEK, it should be emphasized that we are not dealing with just one risk factor but with a combination of risks. We are dealing with an outdated machine, the risks are known to be permanent. Then when we talk about the dust that exists inside the power plant, it is extremely dangerous for the workers there. When we talk about the coal that is normally there, there are chemical gases that are harmful, so I would recommend that the power plant undergo a complete overhaul because it does not meet the conditions in terms of safety and health at work," said Ibishi.

Ibishi added that "electricity production is important, but more important are the lives of the people who work there."
