Mexican boxer Gilberto Ramirez has knocked out German Dominic Boesel, earning the right to challenge for the world title in the WBA version in the light heavyweight category in boxing.
The 30-year-old Ramirez, a former super middleweight world champion, knocked out Boesel in the fourth round. The duel took place in Ontario.
For him, it was the 44th victory in as many bouts and the 30th by KO.
Boesel earned the chance to fight Ramirez after his controversial rematch win with Haxhi Krasniq. For Boesel, it is the third loss in his career against 32 wins.
Boesel defeated Krasniq on points after 12 rounds in September of last year, in a fight that was worth the IBO light heavyweight title and a fight that would bring a major title fight closer.
Two members of the international jury gave victory to Boesel and one to Krasniqi. It was a rematch, since in October 2020 Krasniqi had severely knocked out Boesel in the third round, taking away the IBO title and the interim WBA title.
