The dismissal of the threat against "55 shades of gay" from his position in MKRS is requested

The organizations Csgd Kosovo, Youth Initiative for Human Rights - Kosovo (YIHR KS), Kosovar Center for Gender Studies and Civil Rights Defenders, have opposed the appointment of Xheladin Krasniqin, in the position of Deputy Secretary General in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports ( MKRS).

Four years ago, Krasniqi threatened members of the LGBT community through a comment.

These organizations have called on the Ministry to revoke the appointment of Krasniqi from the position of Deputy General Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.

Krasniqi, in 2019, when he was an archive official at the Ministry of Justice, had posted a three-line comment full of mistakes, but enough to understand the message. As he called the show "55 shades of gay" "extreme degeneracy", he said that he would "take off their heads with a sword". But beforehand he preferred to do another action with the sword.

“Uuuuu what extreme degeneracy. The slope is steep. Good ex-con, before I take your head off, I hit you with the sword...", he wrote on Facebook, commenting on the production of the show, the "Multimedia" center.

KOHA wrote on Wednesday about the appointment of Krasniqi, a decision that was defended by the cabinet of Minister Hajrulla Çeku.

KOHA tried on Wednesday to contact the deputy general secretary, Xheladin Krasniqi, but this was impossible through his phone number.

And in the reaction of the organizations, it is said that homophobic comments and attitudes have no place in leadership positions. "Especially within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports - as the highest state institution competent for cultural issues, where diversity and inclusion should be protected and promoted. Therefore, it is unacceptable for a person with such attitudes to be in a public position where many important cultural decisions for society are made", the reaction of the four organizations states.

According to their reaction, such individuals may bring discriminatory perspectives that may negatively affect decision-making processes.

"To ensure that the cultural policies and decisions of this Ministry are fair, inclusive and respect the rights of all citizens, it is essential to appoint individuals who support these values and have a demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse and culturally rich", says the reaction.

According to them, the election of Krasniqi in this position contradicts the principles of equality, non-discrimination and inclusiveness.

"This appointment makes one of the most important state institutions inaccessible to LGBTI+ communities", the reaction says.

"We categorically condemn any form of discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, or hate speech that targets LGBTI+ communities or any other marginalized group. Such rhetoric only serves to spread division, fear and intolerance. We believe deeply in the power of dialogue and activism to challenge prejudices and build bridges of understanding," the response reads.
