Rimanishta, the picturesque village among the hills and mountains

On the road connecting Pristina with Podujeva, between hills and mountains, lies the village of Rimanishte.
Despite being a small village, the residents of Rimanishte continue to preserve and cultivate the customs and traditions inherited from past generations.

With around 80 houses and approximately 400 inhabitants, Rimanishta is an ancient settlement that, according to residents, has existed since the XNUMXth century.

Rexha, Musliu, Lahu, Arifi, Mustafa, Syla and other names are the names of neighborhoods in the village, which have been inherited from generation to generation by the ancestors of this place.

"The name of the village of Rimanishte derives from the word 'rima', which, according to the dictionary, means valley. It is true that the village is surrounded by valleys. But there are other opinions. The village is divided into neighborhoods, each neighborhood has the name of its ancestors. For example, Rexha, Mustafa, Lahu, Fetahu, Musliu, Arifi, Syla, Balaj. The village has a primary school, an ambulance in the center of the village and a shop. The village has many educated people since the 60s-70s until today. There are generations that have become lawyers, teachers, professors, doctors and professors. Most of them are in the city, but their origins are from this village," says resident Rexhep Rexha.

In recent years, the village roads have been asphalted, except for a few alleys. The Family Medicine Center has been renovated, as have several other parts of the village. However, the main demand of the residents remains the water supply and drinking water supply.

"The village lacks asphalted streets and a water supply. So, we don't have drinking water," he adds.
Rexha, a resident of the village, says that nature and agriculture are the main treasures of Rimanishta.

According to him, there has currently been an increase in the value of land, which now reaches up to 300 euros per hectare.
"In addition to the residents, those who come here only in the summer, and who live in Pristina, are also engaged in agriculture. Wheat, beans, corn and trees are mostly planted here. There are many hectares of trees. Forestry is also profitable for the residents. Not before, but now many people from Pristina are interested in buying land in Rimanishte. The price has also increased, depending on the location of the land, but 200-300 is gold," Rexha emphasizes.

The residents of Rimanishte mainly cultivate cereals, fruits and vegetables, while livestock constitutes an important source of income for many families.

"I started farming after the war. About 25 years ago. I started with a tractor, and every year I grew more and more with the cultivation of the land. First, I planted wheat, corn, potatoes, beans, etc. This year I planted up to 42 hectares. Agriculture is very profitable, but we have little help from institutions. The government has announced applications, but the conditions are not favorable for us. Because it is required that up to 30 hectares must be under contract, we cannot have that much under contract. No one can receive this assistance. The church would like to support us more so that we can do something," emphasizes farmer Halit Arifi.

The main concern of the village residents remains the emigration of young people to cities or abroad.
