ERO has promised to compensate consumers for all those affected by deviations in energy meters. However, this institution has insisted that KEDS and KESCO have no opportunity to benefit from potential errors in measurement.
The Electricity Regulatory Office has announced that citizens affected by inaccuracies in the recording of energy consumed in real time, recorded on meters, will be compensated.
ERO announced in a media statement on Tuesday that it has requested the replacement of meters where deviations in time have occurred.
"ERO informs the public that in cases presented by consumers regarding the possible deviation of tariff hours in electricity billing, it has undertaken all its actions in accordance with the legislation in force, requiring the replacement of those electricity meters, as well as taking concrete measures for financial correction in accordance with technical assessments," the ERO announcement states.
However, ERO has insisted that the verified meters have been found to accurately measure energy and that KEDS and KESCO have no opportunity to benefit from potential measurement errors.
"Evident errors, if they occur, may have a temporary effect until they are identified and corrected, and any affected consumer will be fully compensated, in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory provisions. Failure to comply with these obligations by operators will be dealt with according to the relevant legal framework," the announcement states.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI) imposed a fine of 30 thousand euros on KEDS last week, after finding six electricity meters with expired expiration dates.

According to KEDS, if the tariff transition was made with a few minutes delay, then it was completed later.
