"Art Without Limit" as a call for inclusiveness

From 327 applications, about 50 short films of different genres will be part of this year's edition of the Festival. The film projects that will be shown in Pristina come from different countries of the world. However, the theme is what brought them together. "Art Without Limit" aims to use art to raise awareness about the challenges and lives of people with special needs.

The international film festival "Art Without Limit" is ready for its second edition. From today (Wednesday), for three days in "Kino Armata" and in the National Theater of Kosovo, about 50 films will be shown. In terms of theme, this festival is the only one of its kind in the country and also in the Balkans.

"Art Without Limit" aims to use art to raise awareness about the challenges and lives of people with special needs. It is intended that the film projects also serve as an incentive for education and inclusion of this community in society, motivating, inspiring and encouraging people with special needs.

Ganimete Sava, the executive director of the Festival, said that this year they received applications from 80 countries of the world and through those they selected, they also aim to break the prejudices that exist in society in relation to people with special needs.

"Each organization has its own difficulties, especially an international film festival, but being an inspiring event and knowing that over 255 people with disabilities live in Kosovo, we have seen a Festival as important and valuable such that makes this category together", she said.

He has shown that all the time they have found support from professionals in this field who have advised and helped them in various ways to realize this festival.

"The goal and the most important thing of the Festival is that we have a close cooperation with all the main local and regional organizations that work with people with disabilities such as: 'Disability forum Kosova', 'Down Syndrom Ksova', 'Handikos ', 'Association of the Blind of Kosovo', 'Autism', 'Association of the Deaf', the special schools 'Pëparimi' in Pristina and 'Lef Nosi' in Prizren, then the club 'Dëshira', 'Opfakoss', the foundation 'Së together' in Albania and others", she said.

According to the description on the website, the festival is organized by a group of women artists and the non-governmental organization "Art Without Limit" with executive director Ganimete Savë, artistic director director Burim Haliti and program director, producer and cameraman Michael Stoeger. The trio also assisted in the making of the short documentary "Light Sparks", which will open the festival at 18:00 at the "Armata Cinema". The short documentary was made by a group from Kosovo who have special needs. The rest of the films will be shown on December 2 throughout the day at "Armata Cinema", while on December 3, starting at 18:00 p.m., the award ceremony will be held at the National Theater of Kosovo. December 3 also marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

"We hope that you will raise awareness about the rights and challenges faced by people with disabilities in Kosovo, through the promotion of the festival, watching films, opening the exhibition with photos of successful people with disabilities, discussion panels that will be held during the festival", said Sava. He added that they hope that the visitors of the Festival will change their approach to this category of society by seeing their potential, creativity and abilities.

"As a result of this, the guests who will be from different fields will also create spaces for employment or framing of these people both in the field of art and in other fields", she said.

This edition, the Festival will consist of three different juries. Members of the main jury of the festival are: actress Yllka Gashi, director of the Italian festival "Genova Film Festival", Cristiano Palozzi, director of the International Festival of Tirana, Agron Domi, actress and ballerina from the USA, Donna Russo, who is part of to the disabled community, English director, producer and musician Rolf Killius and actor and disability rights activist Lou Figueroa.

It will also be the jury of the media and that of the disability organizations in Kosovo. 12 prizes will be awarded by all juries: Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Animated Film, Best Screenplay, Best Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Story Which it shows the empowerment of women. The media jury will share the award for the best story in the film, while the organizations will share the award for the best story for the rights of people with disabilities, the special award, the audience award and the "Art Without Limit" award.
