The left-back position is currently the biggest problem in the Cologne squad.
Leart Paçarada, who plays in that position, suffered an injury in a training session on Thursday. Paçarada was forced to leave training early after injuring his ankle, German media reported on Friday.
The Kosovo international is currently the only left-back at the German club. After Pacharada's injury, Cologne will have to look for another replacement.
It has not yet been announced when the experienced defender will return to the field.
It was previously reported that the 30-year-old could leave Cologne for Bristol City, who play in the second tier of English football. But so far, nothing has been official.
