Russia has announced that a delegation has arrived in Belarus for talks with Ukraine, the BBC reports.
But the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has rejected the offer of talks in Belarus, saying that the talks in Minsk would have been possible if Russia had not attacked Ukraine from Belarusian territory.
However, Zelensky has left the doors open for negotiations in other countries.
"If there had not been aggressive actions from your territory, we would have come to talk in Minsk...other cities can be used as places for talks. Of course we want peace, we want to meet, we want the war to end. Warsaw, Bratislava, Budapest, Istanbul, Baku – we offered these cities to the Russians. Any other city would suit us just as well - in a country from whose territory no rockets have been fired at us. This is the only way to negotiate honestly and truly end the war," Zelensky said.
