Sweden's application to join NATO would destabilize the current security situation in Europe, said Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson.
Reuters quoted him as saying this about Sweden in NATO.
"If Sweden chose to send the application to join NATO in the current situation, it would destabilize this part of Europe even more and increase tensions," she said.
Even before Russia's attack on Ukraine, the Russian troop build-up fueled a debate in Sweden and Finland over membership of the transatlantic alliance.
