England will launch the next phase of its COVID-19 vaccination program on Monday, when it will begin offering doses to people aged 70 and over and those considered too unwell to be infected.
The vaccination program – the largest to date in Europe – is focused on people aged 80 and over as well as health workers.
"Today is a big step in our vaccination program as we open it up to millions more people who are at risk from COVID-19," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.
Health Minister Matt Hancock said more than half of 80-year-olds have been vaccinated, Reuters reports.
The government has also said that they want adults to also have the opportunity to be vaccinated in September.
