Civil society organizations have said that the institutional crisis with the blocking of the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has crossed boundaries and is harming the country.

In a joint response, they called on the leaders of the parliamentary parties to take responsibility and act immediately to overcome the political crisis. They further demand that a political agreement be reached among them to overcome the deadlock.

The organizations have expressed their willingness to contribute to overcoming the crisis, while emphasizing that any further delay requires public accountability.

"The institutional crisis that followed the elections of February 9, 2025 has crossed every tolerable limit and is damaging not only the Assembly, but also the functioning of the entire democratic and institutional system of the country. The current government, whose mandate has ended, is continuing to act without parliamentary oversight and control, a situation that is unacceptable for a democratic state," the reaction states.

They further said that the political blockade is delaying and even jeopardizing the receipt of funds from the EU Growth Plan.

"Current geopolitical developments require responsibility and swift action from democratic states. The dysfunctionalization of the Kosovo Assembly is irresponsible and harmful. This stagnation risks partner countries losing confidence in our ability to build functional institutions and act as a serious state on the international stage," the reaction states.
