Osmani: My focus is increasing the participation of women and girls in business

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that her focus is to increase the participation of women and girls in business.

Osmani made these statements on the third day of the Business Forum in Kosovo, adding that the journey of women in business is facing various challenges, therefore he asked to create an environment so that women do not have to to choose between work and family.

"I am glad that we are starting this day together and I think that there is a driving and positive force among you. Naturally, my focus is on the participation of women and girls in business," she said.

According to her, equal inclusion is the main key to unlocking and a prerequisite for common well-being.

"When women are active in society, societies progress, the world is experiencing change, and women are at the forefront of it. The road to gender equality is long, and stereotypes and prejudices must be constantly fought," Osmani emphasized.

Furthermore, President Osmani said that women are much more than that, a source of transformative energy, "which is also being proven through leadership through organizations, startups, and yet their journey is full of challenges, with an imbalance between private life and the professional one".

"Flexible working hours, taking care of children through nurseries, creating an environment where women do not have to choose between professional and private life because they can have both", Osmani stated.

Astrit Panxha, founder of the Kosovar Business Forum, said that women in Kosovo work hard but are not reflected in the country's statistics, so it is a duty to work together.

"We need to build factories, but with them also new kindergartens and schools, since many women have no place to leave their children, women work hard but are not reflected in the country's statistics. There is a place in heaven for men who do not hinder women as they should not be empowered by men nor hindered by them", said Panxha. /EO
