The European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, has said that they are in dialogue with the Government of Kosovo regarding amendments to the Law on the Special Court.
While he spoke about the country's progress in reforms, he said that this process could be undermined due to these amendments.
"Now with the new government, I hope that the state will have the opportunity to move forward. The amendments to the Law on Special Situations risk undermining any progress, but we are already in dialogue regarding these amendments with the Government of Kosovo," she said.
Speaking about Kosovo's path towards European integration, she said that the next step is for the 27 member states to agree to ask the European Commission to prepare an opinion on Kosovo's application for membership.
"We are ready to do this. But to convince member states, Kosovo needs stable institutions, as it has now, and progress in reforms, and the stronger the progress in reforms, the stronger Kosovo's case will be to move forward," she said.
