"You will remember this day for a long time, because you are closing an important chapter of your life and starting another, to take on one of the most important tasks in the service of the Republic of Kosovo: to take care of the security of the citizens of our Republic, to protect their lives, their rights and the law that makes us all equal. You are entering an institution that has a special place in our new history. The Kosovo Police was founded in 1999, immediately after the end of the war, when our country was starting to build its own institutions," said Haxhiu.

Haxhiu emphasized that the courage of a police officer is not only demonstrated in facing danger, but also in the fair application of the law, without discrimination.

"But, honorable guests, the courage of a police officer is not only demonstrated in the face of danger. Courage is also to act rightly when it is most difficult to do so, not to justify power by another uniform, to protect the weak even when faced with a powerful person, to protect the law even when its violation comes from someone you know. Because the authority of a police officer stems from the law, while his dignity is earned through behavior and also through deeds. Dear cadets, among you today are 118 girls and women who have chosen to serve the country through the Kosovo Police," she added.

Haxhiu also mentioned the importance of the role of women in the Kosovo Police, noting that there are 118 girls and women in this generation.

She has requested that police officers treat cases of violence against women seriously and that institutions take timely measures to protect them.

“The presence of more women in security institutions is an important development for our country, but while more and more women are taking responsibility for the safety of others, many other women continue to live under the threat of violence, even unfortunately within their own homes. For many of them, the decision to denounce violence comes after a long history of threats, control, but also fear. They know that denouncing can expose them to even greater danger. Therefore, when a woman turns to institutions, the risk must be assessed seriously and measures for her protection must be taken in a timely manner. We cannot accept that violence against women is treated as a private matter and as a family dispute, or that patriarchal prejudices influence the decisions of those who are duty-bound to protect them. This mentality is contrary to the duty of the police and the responsibility that the state has for the protection of life, and therefore should not take place in the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. Honorable guests, the Republic of Kosovo needs a strong, professional police force equipped with the necessary tools to respond to the challenges of the time", emphasized Haxhiu.

Sot diplomuan 397 policë të rinj.
