The Commissioner of the European Union for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, has stated in Poznan, Poland, that he stands by the recommendation for the opening of negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.
Hahn has opened the Berlin Process for the Western Balkans by participating in the Forum for Business and Civil Society, placing emphasis on the progress achieved by the two Balkan states.
"I stand by the Commission's recommendation to open negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia and rely on the Council to follow up on our positive assessment in October. Both countries have carried out reforms, in particular in the areas mentioned in the conclusions of the Council in June 2018", said Hahn.
Johannes Hahn has requested that the regional states follow the example of North Macedonia in solving the crises and has requested to find a solution for the tax imposed by Kosovo on Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
