The trial against the president of Albania, Iliri Meta, resumes this Monday at the Constitutional Court.
President Meta has chosen not to physically participate in the trial that is taking place against him, leaving his defense in the hands of the jurors, who caused the process to drag on as they asked for time to notify the head of state of what happened in the session.
On February 3, the Presidency presented a 140-page dossier, questioning the legitimacy of the Assembly that dismissed Ilir Meta, while the socialist majority was accused of political revenge.
The submissions of Ilir Meta's lawyers did not convince the constitutional judges who directed a multitude of questions to the head of state.
Meta was dismissed from the Assembly by the previous legislature, but to finalize all this, the approval of the Constitution is also needed. /TCh
