Protest in Munich in support of former KLA leaders, September 18, 2026

Rallies by Albanians in support of former KLA leaders have been announced in Vienna, Cologne, Zurich and Canada, the "Freedom has a Name" platform announced. Protests were held in Munich on Friday.

According to the announcement, these rallies follow the numerous ones held in Kosovo following the convictions handed down by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

A protest was held yesterday in Pristina with thousands of participants, while a rally was also organized in the evening for the third consecutive night in the capital.

Citizens who protested in "Skënderbeu" Square in Pristina, in the protest called by the KLA War Veterans Organization, demanded the repeal or amendment of the Law on the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, the dismissal of the Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, and financial support for the protection of former KLA leaders.

On Wednesday, the Special Chamber found Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi guilty of war crimes and sentenced them to 25 years in prison each, while Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 and Rexhep Selimi to 13.
