UEFA is considering the possibility of holding the European Championship in only one country this summer and not as planned in several countries of the continent.
This is what the chief executive of Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, said.
The competition, which still bears the name "Euro 2020" and which has been postponed to June of this year, is planned to take place in 12 cities in Europe, but Rumenigge has underlined that this concept was dreamed up before the appearance of COVID-19.
"We must not forget that this particular idea of the race came before the coronavirus existed. It was an initiative of the European Commission that wanted football to appear in all of Europe", he told the German newspaper "Munchner Merkur/TZ.
The host cities are set to be London, Glasgow, Dublin, Bilbao, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Munich, Rome, St. Petersburg, Bucharest, Budapest and Baku.

"UEFA together with 12 host cities is working on four operational scenarios for UEFA Euro 2020 (full stadium, with 50-100% of capacity with various mitigation measures, with 20-30% of capacity with various mitigation measures or with closed doors. Each city together with UEFA will select 2-3 scenarios and develop plans in the coming weeks. The decision which scenario will be applied individually in each city during the competition will be taken in the month of March", said UEFA.
