During a roundtable organized by the Council of Written Media and the OSCE, the alarm was raised about the negative impact of technology on accurate reporting and the verification of facts.
At the table with the topic "Fake news and fact-checking in online media", the great role of Artificial Intelligence and the challenges it brings to the media were discussed.
The executive director of KMSHK, Imer Mushkolaj, said that despite the technological changes, the rules that define the news remain the same and requested that they be respected.
"News remains news and reporting rules are reporting rules. It can and does change, of course, the way the news is shared with others, that is, with the public, but the news remains basic, as we learn in journalism schools", said Mushkolaj.
In the first panel of the table, freedom of expression, self-regulation, combating fake news and verifying facts were discussed.
The editor-in-chief of the KOHA Group, Brikenda Rexhepi, raised concerns about the inappropriate use of technology by young journalists and emphasized the importance of confirming the accuracy of news before publication.
"It makes no sense for someone to do the work of a journalist and not verify. For this reason, it is probably good that all of us, the journalists, the new generations, and us understand that they are not two separate things. It means, it never goes with being a journalist and not being a verifier, or being an editor and not being a verifier", said Rexhepi.
