The Correctional Service of Kosovo (SKK) has announced that on Friday around 11:30, in the Health Station of the Dubrava Correctional Center, the prisoner with the initials ED, born in 1974, died.
"As a result of the illness, it was requested that the prisoner be sent to the Dubrava Prison Station, the doctor in charge performed a medical check-up, where despite the provision of medical aid, the same person passed away," the announcement states.
According to the SKK, the victim was convicted of criminal offenses: robbery, unauthorized ownership or possession of weapons.
Meanwhile, the announcement also states that the request for the suspension of the sentence was rejected even though it was made due to his health condition.
"SKK, due to his health condition, has twice requested the suspension of the sentence, but the requests have been rejected. The competent bodies are developing the legal procedures, while the autopsy will verify the cause of death", the announcement states.
