The Minister of European Integration, Blerim Reka, has reacted to the PDK and AAK who demanded his resignation after the statement that "Serbia should be allowed transit through the Kosovo highway to the Adriatic Sea".
He said that "it is dishonest that those who did not demand the resignation of the current president while he was negotiating for a territorial solution with secret exchanges, now demand my resignation".
Through a post on Facebook, Reka said his statement was taken out of context. He says that such a thing has been allowed to Serbia until now and was raised as an idea within the Berlin Process from 2014.
"These days there was criticism from the opposition regarding a sentence of mine in the television interview on the show 'Life in Kosovo'. It was taken out of context and only the second part of the answer to the question: 'Will Kosovo be required by the Washington agreement to give territory to Serbia'? After my answer that I cannot answer hypothetical questions, but nobody dares to give territory for the UN seat, because territorial integrity is non-negotiable; in the journalist's insistence on what we can give for that seat at the UN, I said maybe as an eventual idea to allow Serbia to transit through our highway to the Adriatic Sea. So, something that has been allowed to Serbia until now and that has been raised as an idea within the Berlin Process since 2014," said Reka.
According to him, this is not a decision, nor a position of the government, but his personal opinion given on a concrete question on a concrete issue.
"Obviously, I defend Prime Minister Kurti's stance on reciprocity with Serbia as a principle of our future relations and agreements. Everything else comes to expression only later, only afterwards", concluded Reka.
