The Albanian mafia is already becoming dominant in Greece, but this mafia, which has been carrying out criminal activities in Europe for decades, has spread its roots to the Pacific Ocean in the Galapagos Islands.
The daily Greek newspaper "To Vima" writes that the Albanian mafia is winning the war of organized crime in Greece, which in this way gives the alarm about the unprecedented increase of Albanian crime in the Hellenic state. "To Vima", emphasizes that with murderous attacks, extortion, drug trafficking, the activity of criminal organizations that are run by prisons is escalating. Also, she raises the concern of new recruitments and the increase of police reports involved in these sworn networks, while raising the question of "Who is investigating EL.AS. about the attack in Nea Smyrni?".
The five Albanian gangs that are suspected of operating in prisons in Central and Southern Greece are responsible, according to EL.AS senior officials, for the bloody attacks that have been taking place in front of citizens in Athens in recent months.
In some of these gangs there are reports of EL.AS special services. that sworn police officers are also involved. With the main objective of more than 15 criminal attacks that occurred in the last period, the control of cocaine and heroin traffic in different areas of the capital, and secondly the income from public houses, clubs, but also protection in bars, cafe, etc.
The double murder of two Albanians, a few days ago, in a shop full of people in New Smyrna is considered as a new clear example of the growth, expansion and demonstration of the power of the Albanian mafia in Greece. The expansion carried out by the recruitment of new enforcers, some of whom are considered "expensive", with attacks mainly in public places and with a new cycle of conflicts related to "lost drug shipments", deliveries to the Police, the expansion of " couples", unstable partners and non-payment of collections. EL.AS. is seriously considering the possibility that the attack in Nea Smyrni is related to the murder that happened in May 2021, of a 32-year-old Albanian criminal in a cafe in Sepolia, where the possibility that it is probably the same author is not excluded.

Furthermore, there is clear evidence that many of the current criminal attacks come from Albanian criminals, most of whom remain imprisoned, who were associated with a large Albanian gang that operated from 2004 - 2008 in central Athens and elsewhere and was responsible for 11 murders.
EL.AS officers have even found "videos" of Albanian mobsters in Athens, demonstrating Kalashnikovs, clashes with DIAS policemen, while some of them appear as bodyguards for young foreign rap music singers. Even in one of these "video clips" they threaten the police saying that they "know where they live". This escalation of the activity of the Albanian mafia in Greece was noted at the same time that the Europol reports were drawn up. According to them, 15 central criminal organizations of Albanians and their "branches" are active, which are related to cocaine trafficking (this activity is related to most of the murders in Greece) with Ndraghetta and Camorra in Italy and with criminal networks in Colombia. Morocco, Santo Domingo, Spain and elsewhere. In addition, in the heroin traffic they have contacts with the Italian mafia of Puglia.
The competent services of Katehaki Avenue are reported to have already mapped the branches and leaders of the Albanian mafia in Greece. From EL.AS investigations. for organized crime, it has been determined that in Greece there are about 2500 members of criminal groups whose incomes are staggering, reaching up to 300 million euros, and this figure belongs only to the cases investigated by EL.AS. 10-15% of criminal activity is related only to the activity of Albanian gangs. Massive cocaine imports in Greece, which exceed 10-15 tons per year, amount to more than 500.000.000 euros. 26% is the involvement of Albanian gangs in the heroin traffic, 31% in the hashish traffic. EL.AS examines thoroughly whether behind the "civil war" of the Albanian mafia can be hidden a central group of bandits that took the name of a night center in Athens.
According to some data from the police investigation, a main character could be a known Albanian criminal, imprisoned in Central Greece, who was accused of "death contracts" and escape. But the Albanian mafia has extended its activity to continental Ecuador in the Pacific islands of the Galapagos. General Pablo Ramirez, director of the Ecuadorian police, has emphasized that the Albanian mafia has been carrying out criminal activities in Europe for decades, adding that they have also extended to the Galapagos Islands.
"We have seen that Balkan and Albanian mafias have easily entered under a facade to create illegal import and export companies. It is a rather closed clan, they have been carrying out criminal activities in Europe for several decades and then came to our country, but they have also spread to the Galapagos Islands", stated General Pablo Ramirez for the Ecuadorian media.
General Ramirez has stated that the police and security agencies in Ecuador already have a hypothesis that is being confirmed.
"Criminal structures in Ecuador are turning into micro-cartels, because they no longer require only the security of the big cartels, but also proper transportation, security, collection and micro-trafficking. They also try to deal with the international drug trade. For this reason, within these investigative lines, we have seen persons of Albanian or Balkan nationality, who have carried out various actions through the facade of exporting companies. In this way they generate illegal activities, therefore it is important to establish not only a line of control for the Police, but also for all governmental, state, non-state and non-governmental organizations, we must unite against this evil", stated General Pablo Ramirez .

In the war against narcotics, General Ramirez has asserted that there are three strategic partners that are the US, the United Kingdom and the EU.
"We have three strategic partners. On the one hand, the United States and on the other hand the United Kingdom, which allows us to strengthen the pact, through the European Union. Two weeks ago, an important delegation from the Netherlands and Belgium was in Ecuador, to specify cooperation programs for the exchange of information on shipments, to dismantle criminal structures in the countries of destination, especially in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain. In recent years, this trend has included the control of foreigners with Albanian nationality, who will not be able to enter without a visa", declared General Pablo Ramirez, director of the Ecuadorian police.
