Kurti, who is also the acting Prime Minister, has invited the leaders of the parties that were in opposition in the previous mandate to a meeting to discuss the formation of institutions after the June 7 elections, the day when the constitutional deadline for the constitution of the Assembly came into effect.
Following Kurti's invitation, PDK held a meeting of the Presidency.
After the meeting, Hamza said that this party prioritizes addressing Kosovo's challenges over distributing positions.
"I will behave in a responsible and institutional manner. I am not against having meetings, but before we talk about positions, I have said and I repeat that the priorities, the vision for the future, the program, addressing the challenges that Kosovo faces are very important. If there is no agreement on these, it is not the goal of the PDK to have a certain number of ministries, to have a speaker of the assembly, the president or whatever," he declared.
LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has said that he will respond positively to the invitation of Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti for a meeting.
"I will respond positively to the invitation. Let this be a first meeting, I will try to meet with the leaders of other parties to understand their positions. We express our willingness for LDK to be an active part as much as possible, within the principles and values it represents, towards the formation of new institutions", Abdixhiku emphasized after the meeting of the LDK Presidency.
Meanwhile, Gjini, chairman of the Alliance, said that he does not see a meeting with the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, to discuss the formation of institutions as necessary.
In a public letter, Gjini said the Alliance is ready to help with the quorum for the election of the president if Kurti accepts the six points offered by the AAK.
"On June 26, 2026, I publicly presented our offer to support the establishment of Kosovo's new institutions. The Alliance is ready, without conditions or personal demands, to assist in establishing a quorum for the election of the president, if the mandate holder for the formation of the Government accepts the six points of our offer. This offer aims to push forward Kosovo's economic development, strengthen the country's international position and, at the same time, not send the country to elections once again. Given our clear and principled position, we do not see the meeting necessary," Gjin's letter states.
Representatives of this party have said that at the meeting they will also talk about Kurti's invitation to a meeting.
Today (Thursday) the constitutional deadline for the constitution of the Assembly came into effect. The new MPs have until August 7 to constitute the eleventh legislature of the Assembly.
In the June 7 elections, LVV received 53 MPs, PDK 22, LDK 18 and Aleanca 7.
The constitution of the Assembly and the election of the government will not be a problem for Vetëvendosje, as it has won 53 mandates and needs 61 votes, which according to its officials, it has, counting the votes of minority MPs, not including those of the Serbian List.
And for the president, 80 votes are needed, which means that the participation of PDK or LDK is also needed.
The President must be elected within 60 days of the constitution of the Assembly.

If there is no agreement on these, it is not the intention of the PDK to have a certain number of ministries, to have a speaker of the assembly, the president or whatever," he declared. "The invitation must be sent in the manner required by the order to be sent by the chairman of the party with the largest number of seats secured in the Assembly of Kosovo and to be held in the premises of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo."
Meanwhile, in a press release, PDK announced that its leadership has decided that any initiative aimed at making institutions functional "deserves to be heard and evaluated responsibly, therefore chairman Bedri Hamza will respond positively to the invitation to participate in tomorrow's meeting, to hear what concrete solutions Mr. Kurti offers to overcome the institutional crisis."
"PDK reiterates that the constitutional and political responsibility for the formation of institutions belongs to the party that came first in the elections. For this reason, it expects Mr. Kurti to present his plan for the creation of institutions and securing the necessary majority. Any further development will depend on the seriousness of this process, respect for the constitutional order and the willingness to offer concrete solutions in the interest of the Republic of Kosovo and not on political calculations or attempts to distribute responsibility to the opposition," the PDK statement said.
