Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that Kosovo wants normalization of relations with Serbia, but that, according to the head of the Government, it is increasingly abnormal.
"The United States of America is both our partner and our ally, so we will cooperate closely in order to normalize relations with Serbia, but we must understand that we have an increasingly abnormal Serbia, so while we want normalization of relations with Serbia, this year that we just left behind is a year of further normalization with Serbia", he said on Tuesday after the end of the meeting he held with the mayors of the municipalities.
Kurti has emphasized that Serbia has rejected the Franco-German plan and according to him everyone should deal with it, since the Government of Kosovo has considered it as a good basis for discussion.
"We have considered the European Union plan supported by France, Germany and the United States of America as a good basis for further discussions, while Serbia has rejected it at the meeting of the national security council held in Belgrade on October 27 of 2022, the unanimous conclusion of the rejection of this proposal was made public by the Foreign Minister of Serbia, Daqiq, who was otherwise the spokesman of Milosevic's party. So they have rejected this proposal and now everyone would have to deal with them while we have considered it as a good basis for discussion", said Kurti.
A day before the arrival in Kosovo of the senior advisor of the American State Department, Derek Chollet, Kurti said that his visit is more than welcome and, according to him, it comes at an important moment when the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
Kurti has said that the military aggression there has also had consequences in the Western Balkan region, mentioning here Serbia which has not imposed sanctions on Russia but has made an agreement with them. /exp
