Today in Peja, there is a protest following the murder of Arlinda Zekaj in Vitomirica, this municipality, on October 25th.
Protesters have demanded justice for the murder allegedly committed by Zekaj's former brother-in-law, Albert Sylaj, who has been arrested and is in custody.

One of the protest organizers said that all institutions have failed to protect Arlinda's life.

"Today, as citizens and fellow citizens of Arlinda, we have come to each institution to seek justice, therefore the march will start from the Municipality of Peja, continue to the Center for Social Work, the Police and the Court, and end at the Prosecution Office," she said.

Protesters threw smoke bombs and chanted "How many women have been killed?"

Arlinda Zekaj, 49, was murdered on October 25 and her former brother-in-law, Albert Sylaj, has been arrested as a suspect in the murder. Meanwhile, Zekaj's ex-husband, Jeton Sylaj, was detained by law enforcement on the day of the murder after Zekaj reported him for violating a protective order.

Just three days before he was killed, Zekaj had written a letter to the chief prosecutor of Peja telling her that her life was in danger.
