Ajvazi: 11 thousand people did not have 15 years of work experience to receive contributory pension

Law on pensions

Donjeta Ajvazi from the Kosovo Institute of Justice (IKD), on KTV's "Today" show, said that according to their statistics, until 2020, there were about 11 people who did not meet the legal criteria for 15 years of work experience before the war, to benefit from the contributory pension.

"According to the statistics that we have until 2020, there were somewhere around 11 people who did not manage to receive the contributory pension due to this defined criterion, due to not fulfilling the 15-year seniority", Ajvazi emphasized.

But this criterion defined in the Law on pension schemes financed by the state and the Administrative Instruction for the categorization of contributory pension beneficiaries, is expected to be removed, since in December of last year the Constitutional Court has declared unconstitutional the articles of these documents where this criterion was defined.

The Constitution has decided that the workers who were dismissed from their jobs by the Serbian regime in the 90s will be recognized with a contribution-paying internship. But Ajvazi has said that he does not know if after the amendment of the Law, it will be applied retroactively.

The law on pension schemes financed by the state is already in the process of amendment in the Assembly, where the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has requested that these articles be removed.
