German police increase security at the hospital where the Russian opposition leader is being treated

German police have increased security at the Berlin hospital where Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is being treated.

Navalny arrived in Germany on August 22 from the Siberian city of Omsk. He is suspected to have been poisoned.

The Charite hospital, where Navalny is being treated, has not yet revealed his health condition, but the founder of the non-governmental organization that enabled his transport from Russia to Germany said that the condition of the Russian opposition leader is "very worrying".

Photos have been posted on social media showing the increased presence of German police around the hospital where Navalny is being treated.

Navalny, who is a vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, passed out on August 20 while traveling on a plane. He was said to have passed out after drinking some tea, which according to his associates, may have been poisoned.

Chartie Hospital said it will provide updates on Navalny's condition and further treatment after conducting tests and consulting with the family.

Navalny's transfer from Russia to Germany was delayed because Russian authorities said he was not in good health to travel.

Navalny has been in a coma since falling ill on August 20 on a flight from the Siberian city of Tomsk to Moscow. The plane he was traveling on was forced to land in Omsk. \ Rel
