PDK activists have surrounded the Drenas Municipality with yellow ribbons that read "Danger", reports "Ekonomia Online".
The action was held in response to the current mayor of the municipality, Ramiz Lladrovci, after the publication of an audio recording by VOX Kosova. In that audio recording, Ramiz Lladrovci can be heard talking to businessman Labinot Halilaj, who is also a candidate for the assembly from Ramiz Lladrovci's "For Drenas Champion" list. They discuss the value that could be gained if it is built on a municipal plot, and the possibility of overbuilding is also mentioned.
PDK candidate for mayor of Drenas, Petrit Hajdari, said that the audio recording is "a clear picture of Lladrovci's governance."
"The one who was called to govern with clean hands is now turning out to have his hands deep in the pockets of the citizens of Drenas," Hajdari said in a statement to the media after the action.
Lladrovci on Tuesday called the publication of that conversation a tendency for political blackmail, because according to him, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, has been gripped by the fear of losing in the Municipality of Drenas, looking at the polls for the winner of the elections there.
"Of course, Memli Krasniqi and his leadership are afraid, those who voted against my nomination, it is right to vote but not to get into trouble 26 members of the leadership who are blackmailing and ordering them to come to Drenas to work and win the elections but they are not winning the elections," declared Lladrovci.
Lladrovci has also published a conversation via the Viber application with PDK vice-president Vlora Çitaku on September 18 of last year, in which Lladrovci asked whether unauthorized recording of a conversation is a criminal offense.
Local elections in Kosovo are held on October 12.
