More than 9,800 alleged packages of ballots from postal voting outside Kosovo, pertaining to the second round of mayoral elections in 18 municipalities, have been assessed and verified by the Central Election Commission (CEC).

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, in a statement to Ekonomia Online, said that around 2,570 of them were rejected and will not be included in the count. This is because, according to him, in most of them, in 2,500 cases, the registration certificate is missing, a unique document that voters receive from the CEC when they register.

"As of Friday, at 10:00, of the ballot packages that were brought to Kosovo, more than 9,800 have been subjected to the evaluation process, of which more than 7,240 have been approved, while around 2,570 have been rejected. The most obvious reason why these packages were rejected is because in 2,500 cases the registration certificate, a document with unique data, that the registered voter receives from the CEC, is missing," Elezi declared.

According to him, on November 11 and 12, 13,084 packages allegedly containing ballots were withdrawn from CEC mailboxes in 22 different countries around the world, which correspond to postal voting outside Kosovo in the second round of the elections for Mayors of 18 municipalities. So far, most of them have been brought to Kosovo.

According to the CEC, at the end of this evaluation process, data will be published for each municipality on the number of packages with presumed ballots, which will be counted at the Counting and Results Center.
