Candidate for North Mitrovica: Of the ministries, only the Ministry of Interior has done its job

The candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica, Betim Osmani, said that of the ministries, only the Interior Ministry has completed its work in this municipality.

Osmani, leader of the "Mitrovica" Civic Initiative, stated that this municipality and the Albanians in this area need many services that they currently do not have.

On the show "Elections in Time", he listed some of them.

"Our governments have 16-17 ministries. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has done its job. But in the north of Kosovo, especially in the north of Mitrovica, we need the Ministry of Culture that has not invested. We need the Ministry of Education. We have had a school in North Mitrovica for 26 years now, which is also a container. We need the Ministry of Health, because now I went to Miners' Hill, there is an ambulance where a doctor has not been there for 6 months," said Osmani.

According to him, due to the lack of these services, 70 percent of Albanians in this part do not live in North Mitovica.

He also spoke about the vacated housing units and the reconstructed houses.

There are 120 housing units and 40 houses, but according to him, few of them are habitable.

"These apartments, 120 of which have been vacated, I don't think you can imagine how damaged they are. To fix them, to make them habitable is a cost that costs each family. Now, investing 20-30 thousand euros in a property that you haven't been able to use for 26 years is a cost. In the reconstructed houses, some of the families have returned, especially in those places where there is infrastructure, like the Bosniak neighborhood, there are 3-4 families. In Kroi i Vitakut, about 8 houses have been built, seven of which do not meet the conditions. Some of them have problems with water, sewage, some do not have access to the main road," said Osmani.

Local elections will be held on October 12.
