AAK promises light for the city that illuminates all of Kosovo
With a walk from the headquarters of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo to the main square, the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, together with the candidate for mayor of Obiliq, Ali Krasniqi, and the group of candidates for assembly members, opened the campaign in this municipality on Tuesday.
In a conversation with Haradinaj during the walk, candidate Krasniqi said that the race in Obiliq will be strong. And at the party headquarters, he dedicated his speech to the party leader.
"As a candidate for mayor of Obiliq in the 2021 municipal elections, it was a joint decision not to turn our backs on the Alliance, never aiming for political positions. But, as a now-deceased professor said at the time, it is a betrayal to turn our backs on General Haradinaj, especially for the great work that has been done in Obiliq. Today, in 2025, I take on the candidacy for mayor from the ranks of the Alliance before you. With confidence and dedication, we will lead Obiliq forward towards the development and work that our citizens deserve," said Krasniqi.
And the leader of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, in his speech recalled the period when he was at the head of the Kosovo Government and the decisions that, according to him, were made regarding Obiliq.
This municipality was for a time governed by AAK, as the current mayor, Xhafer Gashi, was part of this political entity. Now Gashi is part of LDK and is running again on October 12.
"During Haradinaj's second government, we strengthened the Law on Obiliq. It was not a simple process, because it was the first time that the budget was allocated and all the obligations that the law took were strengthened. At that time, we treated Obiliq carefully for infrastructure facilities, for large projects that required more budget than the municipality's capacity - including squares, schools, and many other infrastructure projects. We understood even then that all of Kosovo receives light from Obiliq, but you receive one of the greatest air pollutions. It is understood that you are damaged not only in health, but also in all other aspects. We assessed then how obligatory it is that young men and women in equal conditions have respectable treatment from KEK, because it was in the interest. It was not easy to implement this promise," said Haradinaj.
Haradinaj praised AAK candidates in each municipality and invited citizens to support this party.
"I am telling you that the level of governance of the Alliance, wherever they have been given the opportunity in municipalities to lead, but also in co-government with our colleagues, they are really governing well. For this reason, we have also set our slogan 'Light for municipalities, light for Obiliq'. I know that you are also concerned about many other problems - naturally, in our country we like to see Kosovo as well as possible. We are concerned why the Parliament or the Government are not being consolidated, why development is not progressing. I assure you that the Alliance, with its capacity, has taken care to move these processes forward", said Haradinaj.
During this electoral activity, candidates for the Municipal Assembly were also presented.
PDK mayoral candidates dedicate the day to women
The Democratic Party's mayoral candidates dedicated the fourth day of the campaign for the October 12 local elections to women.
In Gjilan, this party's candidate for mayor, Riad Rashiti, held a meeting with girls and women.
Also present was PDK secretary Vlora Çitaku, who, in the form of friendly advice to Rashiti, said that women's demands should be listened to, as according to her, they are actually the demands of the community.
"Women's demands are not luxury demands, asking for a daycare for children - it is not a luxury, asking for street lighting - it is not a luxury, so that we feel safe when going to school, work or home - it is not a luxury, walking without fear of stray dogs - it is not a luxury. When women make demands to the government, they never do them only as women, they also do them as mothers, as sisters, as wives. Keep in mind that women's demands are the demands of the community", said Çitaku.
The meeting also presented the 14 candidates for assemblywomen who are part of the PDK list for the Municipal Assembly elections.
And, Rashiti has promised that he will allocate 2 percent of the municipality's annual budget for women's empowerment, if he is elected mayor of Gjilan.
"Until today, not only Gjilan, but no municipality in Kosovo has had a separate budget, a separate budget line for women, and in my program, I have 2% of the total budget of the Municipality of Gjilan, which is annual, destined for the empowerment of women. The value of the 2 percent of the budget is 800 thousand euros each year, which will be destined for women's projects in Gjilan. For four years, 3.2 million euros will be destined for the empowerment of women in Gjilan," said Rashiti.
He has also pledged to introduce a subsidy scheme for parents who send their children to private daycare centers.
"There will be a subsidy of 75 euros per month for every child who cannot be accommodated in public kindergartens but will go to private kindergartens. This is an extremely large relief because spaces or places in public kindergartens are limited," Rashiti declared.
And in South Mitrovica, PDK candidate for mayor Arian Tahiri, who is also the current vice-mayor, has said that if he takes power, he will work towards equal opportunities for both men and women.
"As the next mayor, I will be committed to creating new opportunities for women in Mitrovica, by providing professional training, employment opportunities and support for their new businesses. Together with Nafije Rexha as an assemblywoman and my entire team, we will ensure that women in Mitrovica have the place they deserve, have equal opportunities and contribute to the development of our city," Tahiri wrote on Facebook.
And in the capital, Uran Ismaili has promised to improve public security.
"There is no place in the capital for dark and unsafe streets! The girls and women of Pristina deserve better! This is our solution for a Pristina with safe streets 24/7: 1,000 additional street lights; 450 km of new sidewalks; Humane treatment of 5,000 stray dogs; 200 trained security officers in schools," Ismaili wrote on Facebook.
The candidate for mayor of Kaçanik, Sabedin Vishi, also held a meeting with women on Tuesday.
Totaj: Our 4-year work is being seen everywhere
The PDK candidate for mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, has, through several posts on Facebook, presented some of the work he says has been completed during his mandate.
"As part of the investments by the Municipal Directorate of Education and the Directorate of Culture, Youth and Sports, at the SHFMU "Vëllezërit Frashëri" in Planejë i Has, important works have been carried out in the school infrastructure. During this phase of the investments, the following was done: Painting the interior of the school building; Renovation of the external facade; Arrangement of the school yard with green spaces and concrete elements; Construction of a complete sports field", Totaj wrote, among other things.
According to Totaj, his 4-year work is being seen everywhere.

Therefore, today we ask for citizens' trust for a second term - for the good works we have completed and the great projects we will present for modern Prizren," Totaj wrote in another Facebook post.
Furthermore, the current mayor of Prizren, as one of the projects he implemented during his mandate, is the unblocking of the new Transit.
"From commitment to work. After 15 years, we unlocked the new Transit, while connecting part of the city to the Highway. Major and transformative projects for the city await us in the next 4 years," Totaj wrote on Facebook.
Totaj, on Tuesday evening, announced that he had visited several party branches in Prizren.
Kurti convinced that Vetevendosje will win Gjilan without a runoff
The leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, and the mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, who is running for another term, held a meeting with the women of this municipality on Tuesday and promised to strengthen the role of women.
Kurti said that the engagement of women in politics has been progress for society and the economy during the central and local governments of the Liberal Democratic Party, a commitment that he asked participants to continue.
Kurti praised the work of Mayor Hyseni, mentioning the addition of several health services and the subsidization of rent for single mothers. He said that in order to continue these values, Gjilan should entrust Hyseni with another mandate. Kurti expressed his conviction that women and youth will be decisive for the LVV candidate to win Gjilan without a runoff.
"Women, youth were decisive together with the diaspora when Alban Hyseni won in the runoff 4 years ago. And women, youth and the diaspora will be decisive for Alban Hyseni to win without a runoff this time and for us to continue with new and good projects for the empowerment of women, for the well-being of all citizens without distinction," Kurti declared.
Hyseni, while asking for support, stated that the Vetëvendosje plan for the governance of Gjilan does not aim at four-year projects, but long-term projects that are not limited in time. Hyseni emphasized that not only women but all citizens will benefit from them. He said that there are three pillars on which the LVV program for Gjilan will be based: a developed city, a municipality for all, and the Gjilan of the future.
"We aim to build a city where development, business, investments and investors, young people, and the elderly all take their rightful place and in this way Gjilan becomes as livable as possible," said Hyseni.
The candidate for mayor of Pristina, Hajrulla Çeku, also campaigned on Tuesday. He visited artisans in Pristina and promised them support through two measures.
"The first is the measure of direct support, not to create comfort from funds, but to give the work you do a boost, a well-thought-out subsidy scheme. Second, we are thinking of working hard with tourism, because when tourism increases, it automatically translates into more income from you and we come to the point where we no longer need subsidies, but can function from tourism revenues," Çeku pledged.
In Prizren, candidate Artan Abrashi has pledged to provide pensioners with support for their health, well-being and dignity.
And in Peja, candidate Taulant Kelmendi has promised that with his government, the third pillar of the LVV program "for a tourist Peja" will be implemented.
"With our new government, the third pillar of our program is Peja as a tourist destination for economic development. Together, we turn this wealth into development, opportunity and pride for every citizen," said Kelmendi.
Peci: We will restore the old identity of Mitrovica
The candidate for mayor of Mitrovica from the ranks of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Faton Peci, has promised to restore Mitrovica's old identity.
"We will restore the old identity of Mitrovica! The Mitrovica region is the richest in the country in terms of cultural and archaeological heritage. In today's meeting with Director Nora Prekazi, we had a fruitful conversation about the extraordinary work from the investments of Minister Hajrullah Çeku, through which cultural life has been greatly enriched, about our four-year vision and about the difficult situation of the City Museum, which has unfortunately been neglected, but is among our priorities to restore its value and the care it deserves. For the Mitrovica we love: 🏛️ We will create the Alternative Museum of Historical Memory and War in Mitrovica. ⚽️ The Museum of Prominent Figures of Culture and Sports. ⛰️ The connection of the cultural and archaeological heritage of Shala with the development of agrotourism and ecotourism", Peci wrote on Facebook. He said that this is the way to restore the identity of old Mitrovica.
LDK inaugurates new transport lines in Pristina and promises "new energy" in Klina
The Democratic League of Kosovo candidate for Pristina, Përparim Rama, presented on Tuesday, on the fourth day of the campaign for the local elections, the expansion of the public transport network.
He said that 30 new lines have been added to the existing ones, enabling access to every neighborhood and village in Pristina.
According to him, this important transformation ensures that every seven minutes there is a bus available to citizens.
"The expansion of the public transport network now brings lines to neighborhoods of Pristina where there have been no buses until now, and this is one of the key points. Areas of the capital such as: 'Taslixhe', 'Velania', 'Bledi', 'Arbëria', 'Sofalia', the neighborhood 'Qëndresa', 'Nicë', 'Veterniku' and Zllatari, all of these will have buses, bus services, in all these parts of the capital, from today," Rama said.
The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, participated in the rally held in Klina. He said that the party's candidate, Arben Limanaj, will bring change "with the energy of a new leader."
"Arben is a fresh name in the mayoral race, but not unknown to you. For years, he has been there, in the Municipal Assembly, representing you, raising his voice for your troubles, being a fair and determined critic of any injustice. He has never been silent in the face of a lack of transparency, he has not closed his eyes when citizens have been overlooked, he has not spared his words when the interests of Klina have been neglected. He knows the problems, because he has seen them, heard them and raised them where they needed to be. And today he comes with a vision for change," said Abdixhiku.
Limanaj himself, after speaking about the problems in the municipality, according to him, also promised solutions to them.
"Changes in the Municipality of Klina are necessary, starting with drinking water, improving the situation in education, health, economic development, standardized public services. The key problem of the Municipality of Klina and our main priority is the supply of drinking water, despite millions of investments, Klina with its surroundings and other villages of our municipality are still facing this unresolved problem today," said Arben Limanaj.
In Prizren, the LDK candidate for mayor, Driton Selmanaj, during a meeting with the residents of the village of Piranë, emphasized agriculture.
"Today, in the heart of Pirana, we gathered to unveil our program. The main emphasis was on strong support for farmers, recognizing the importance of this agricultural area. It was a pleasure to see the great interest of people, because these coffee meetings are turning into hope and motivation, both for us and for the citizens," said Driton Selmanaj.
The candidate for Fushë-Kosovo, Besnik Osmani, visited several businesses in the city on Wednesday, promising that the municipality will be their "right hand". And in Istog, the current mayor Ilir Ferati, who is running for a new mandate, presented some of the main projects of his program. He mentioned the finalization of the main sewage collector, the construction of the Uçë-Vojdullë road, and the electrification of the Istog Mountains.
"Finalization of the main sewage collector, a project worth 4.2 million euros. Construction of the Uçë-Vojdullë road, worth 3.9 million euros. Construction of the Gusar farmers' road, worth 1.7 million euros, where leading farmers are employed not only in the Istog Municipality but also, I can say with full conviction, in the Republic of Kosovo. Electrification in the Istog Mountains through investors worth 3.8 million euros and creating new opportunities for mountain tourism and business development," said Ferati.
Kurti visits several factories in Kamenica, praises the mayor's work
On the fourth day of the campaign for the local elections on October 12, the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, together with the current mayor and candidate for a second term in Kamenica from the ranks of the LVV, Kadri Rahimaj, have made several visits to this municipality.
One of the visits was to the village of Roganë in Kamenica, where they mentioned some of the works of Mayor Rahimaj.
"From the construction of the sports field and the new kindergarten, to the renovation of the "Metush Krasniqi" school and the asphalting of dozens of roads; from the athletics stadium, to the connection to the water supply, the renovation of the sports field and the marking of the paths in Rogana Park; to the support for 30 local businesses with municipal grants, all of these are investments that are bringing about visible change," the party's Facebook announcement states.
Kurti also visited Grizime, another village in the Municipality of Kamnica in which two factories are located.
"First, the newest water factory "Qua FIX", which opened this year with an investment of over 500 thousand euros. With a production capacity of 10 thousand liters of water per hour, this factory already employs 12 people. Then, we saw up close the mushroom factory "Champingnon", where 30 workers are employed, 80% of whom are women. Daily production reaches about 1,000 kg, with the aim of increasing to 1,800 kg. Meanwhile, 99% of the processing of mountain mushrooms is exported to Europe and America," the Facebook post states.
These investments were considered very important for the economy of our country.
AAK candidate for Obiliq: The general is not betrayed
The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, opened the election campaign in Obiliq on Tuesday, where, together with the candidate for mayor, Ali Krasniqi, and a group of assembly members, they held a walk in the city's main square.
During this walk, Haradinaj and Krasniqi discussed the possibilities of victory in Obiliq, while the mayoral candidate stated that the race will be strong.
After the walk, they stopped to pay homage at the war martyrs' monument.
In his speech, candidate Ali Krasniqi emphasized that the decision to side with Haradinaj was deliberate, because as he said, "the general is not betrayed."
Meanwhile, Haradinaj recalled the time when AAK was in the central government recently, emphasizing that at that time the Special Law for Obiliq was enacted, which according to him, "was not just a document, but a commitment to a deserved treatment for the citizens of this city". He mentioned investments in squares, schools, street lighting, as well as the return of KEK properties to municipal property, as projects that bear the stamp of his government and the Alliance.
At the end of the event, the candidates for municipal assembly were introduced, most of whom were not present.

Shahini: My first priority is education
The candidate for mayor of Pristina from the PSD, Besa Shahini, declared during a rally in the capital that education is her first priority.
Through a post on Facebook, he also showed investments in this field.
"Pristina students are 4–5 years behind their peers in other capitals. Why? Because most of them study in two shifts, where there is no time even for the curriculum, let alone for sports, foreign languages or coding. I will build 10 new schools and expand 10 existing schools," the post reads.
According to Shahini, students will learn in shifts, with space for activities that, according to her, parents carry out through private courses.

The candidate for mayor of Pristina from the Social Democratic Party, Besa Shahini, held a meeting with animal activists on Tuesday, as she outlined the main policies she will undertake to reduce the number of stray dogs.
In a Facebook post, Shahini said that the source of the stray dog problem is people who abandon their pet dogs.
"With animal rights activists! We discussed the most effective practices for managing the situation with stray dogs. If the source of the problem, which is people abandoning domestic dogs, is not addressed, the issue of street dogs will never be solved," she wrote.
According to Shahini, After removal from the street and sterilization, the main policy should be to register dogs with owners and prevent abandonment.
Uran Ismaili promises a safer capital, with well-lit streets and no stray dogs

His 24/7 Safe Streets plan includes: Lighting over 1,000 additional streets; Building 450 kilometers of new sidewalks, as well as expanding and repairing existing ones; Capturing, sterilizing, vaccinating and registering 5,000 stray dogs, reducing their population by half; Placing 200 trained safety officers in elementary and secondary schools.
Besianë Musmurati, former Director of Education in the Municipality of Pristina and candidate for Assembly, also spoke at the conference.
“Insecurity is not just a perception; it has become a daily reality. Walking with a stroller in Pristina is often almost an Olympic sport – sidewalks are either missing, broken, or occupied by cars. Only 20% of our streets have functional sidewalks,” said Musmurati.
"While the current mayor deals with property swaps and beautiful renderings, our families face the most basic problems every day such as lighting, stray dogs, and school safety."
She also emphasized that one of the reasons she joined Uran Ismail is because "he has placed security at the center of his program for Pristina."
Abrashi: I will ensure that pensioners in Prizren receive the care they deserve
The Vetëvendosje Movement's candidate for mayor of Prizren, Artan Abrashi, has promised better conditions for pensioners in this municipality.
He said that retirees represent the experience, sacrifices, and work of a lifetime for this country.
"They are not just part of our past, but the cornerstone of our society. Today's conversations reminded me of how their dedication and sacrifice have made possible every step we take today," he wrote.

Kupina: The Pristina of tomorrow starts with the Pristina League
Fehmi Kupina, leader of the Pristina League, at the opening of the campaign for the local elections in the capital, said that his initiative "does not stop".

This civic initiative is competing with a list of 56 candidates in the capital.
The party was initially not certified due to its name, which, according to the Democratic League of Kosovo, resembled it, but later certification was required by the Electoral Complaints Panel.
Rama introduces new bus lines in the capital and villages

The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, and LDK's candidate for mayor, has introduced new bus lines in the capital.
He presented the expansion of the public transport network at a conference held on Tuesday.
He then wrote about this on the social network Facebook.
"For the first time, the bus goes to neighborhoods such as: Tasligje, Velania, Bledi, Arberia, Sofalia, Qëndresa, Nic, Veternik, Zllatar. We are also connecting villages with the capital, Marec, Vitia e Marec, Siqeva, Kolovica, Zllash, Ballaban, Nishec, Gllogovicë, Llabjan, Slivov, Shkabaj, Drenoc, Prugoc," Rama wrote on Facebook.
