Diaspora overturns the result in Mamusha and makes it more unclear in Rahovec

The counting of postal votes for the local elections on October 12 has also changed some results. In Mamusha, after the inclusion of votes from the diaspora, the municipality goes to a runoff between Abdylhadi Krasniç and Fikret Morina, while in Rahovec the gap between the candidates of LVV and LDK has narrowed. They are competing to see who will be the rival of Smajl Latif of AAK in the runoff.

 As of Sunday afternoon, more than half of the postal votes for the October 12 local elections had been counted, the Central Election Commission announced. 

The counting of votes from the diaspora, as of 17:45 p.m. on Sunday, has overturned the result in the Municipality of Mamusha. 

According to preliminary results announced a week ago, candidate Abdylhadi Krasniç was declared the winner without a runoff. 

But after the inclusion of postal votes, this municipality is expected to go to a runoff between Krasniç and Fikret Morina.

Meanwhile, conditional votes and those of people with disabilities remain to be counted.

"As of Sunday at 16:00 PM, 80 boxes containing packages of alleged ballots from the mayoral elections and 67 other boxes from the municipal assembly elections have been counted. The total number of ballots that have been counted so far is over 50%," said the spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi.

Postal votes almost overturned the result in Rahovec as well. 

A fierce competition is underway as to who will come second in the runoff, after the first, Smajl Latifi of AAK, has secured it.

In the preliminary results, Burim Krasniqi of LDK had 134 fewer votes than Ali Dula of LVV, but after counting votes from the diaspora, the difference narrowed to 75. 

Even in this case, conditional votes and those of people with disabilities could overturn the result.

Activities at the Municipal Counting Centers ended on Saturday. The last municipalities to conclude the process were Pristina, Prizren and Malisheva.

The process is now underway at the Counting and Results Center, which is responsible for counting postal votes, conditional votes, and votes from people with disabilities.

After the counting of postal votes is completed, the counting of conditional votes and votes of persons with disabilities will begin. 

The second round of voting will be held on November 9.
