Çeku: Everyone has come together, but we will not let them stop change

hajrulla ceku

Hajrulla Çeku, the Vetevendosje Movement's candidate for mayor of Pristina, said that all other parties have come together to support Përparim Rama of the Democratic League of Kosovo in Sunday's runoff.

"They are together again, not for Pristina, but for themselves. They never separate for interests. They are together behind the scenes, in tenders, in positions, and now together against change, but we will not allow it," said Çeku in his closing speech of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, in his speech criticized Rama, saying that now Pristina is "a city that is feeling the weight of four lost years."

"The work that has been started has not been completed, the promises made have not been fulfilled, and the citizen is tired of weak justifications and illogical complaints. There were great opportunities, sufficient funds, and national attention, but everything has been lost amid the lack of a plan, excessive arrogance, chronic dilettantism, and the financial appetites of its leaders," he said.

In the first round of elections, on October 12, Rama of the LDK, who is aiming for another mandate, came first in the race for mayor of Pristina with 35,595 votes, about 500 votes more than Çeku.

The PDK, which came in third with around 27 percent of the vote, has not publicly declared its support for any candidate, although it has been reported that it is supporting Rama.
