The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) list and this party's candidate for president, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement's candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, had supported her re-run for president, but that he later changed his position after, according to her, he had secured the necessary votes from the opposition parties.

Osmani revealed that in December she had held talks with Kurti, during which he had proposed that she run for another presidential term.

"When we talked in December, it was Kurti's own idea for me to run for president again so that we could continue our cooperation for another decade. He even insisted that whatever differences we had were operationalized for the good of Kosovo," Osmani declared in "Elections in the Time".

According to her, Kurti also appreciated her role in maintaining relations with international partners.

"He said, 'Thank you for maintaining the relationship with the US and Europe, this has helped us a lot, it has helped the state's interests. It was proposed by him himself, like the first time,'" she said.

Osmani indicated that after the elections, an agreement was reached for her and Kurti to work together to secure the necessary votes to elect the president.

"After the elections, we agreed that both he and I would talk to the opposition about the votes. Only when I informed him that we now have approximately 80, 82 votes, at that moment he told me: 'And now you don't have the votes of VV,'" Osmani declared.
