Two people of Serbian nationality were arrested on Sunday in the village of Gorazhdec, Peja, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "giving or receiving a bribe in connection with voting", the Kosovo Police announced.

According to the Police, the arrests were made after receiving information about illegal activities that aimed to influence the free will of citizens during the electoral process being held today.

"It is suspected that the arrested have attempted to orient and influence voters to vote for the Serbian List," the Police statement said.

Police conducted raids at the suspected locations. During the operation, two Kosovar men of Serbian nationality were arrested, who were then interviewed by regional investigators and detained for 48 hours.

The police have said that interference and the exercise of influence in elections constitute a serious threat to democracy, independence and the free will of citizens, while law enforcement institutions have reiterated their commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process.

The police have called on citizens to exercise their right to vote freely and without pressure, and to report any irregularities or attempts at unlawful influence to the competent institutions.
