Soup in Leposaviq

The news that in Leposaviq, in the north of Kosovo, in a concert organized by the municipal government, a rock group from Serbia sang, it should be one of those irrelevant news that may not even be published - after all, it is not Leposaviqi is a place known for rock-spectacles, and Belgrade has been for years, decades even, not a place where something new (and good) can come from when it comes to rock.

But the news is not just about a rock concert in a suburban town with suburban guests from the neighboring country, who come to sing rock&roll and spend beautiful moments with the public thirsty for music.

It is not such news, for many reasons.

The group that appeared on the stage of Leposavic last night is "Riblja Čorba" ("Fish Soup"), which is led by the singer and lyricist Bora Gjorgjevic, otherwise an open hater of the non-Serb peoples of the region (Albanians, Bosniaks, Croats), racist self-proclaimed, self-promoted Chetnik (and officially proclaimed by the Church as a Chetnik voivode), author of songs promoting Serbian nationalist violence against others. In addition, Gjorgjevic is also a public figure in Serbia, one of those who have continuously supported Milosevic's criminal regime, as well as the wars between Serbs and Serbia, from Slovenia and Croatia to Bosnia and Kosovo. He is one of those who have drowned art in the mire of Serbian chauvinism, distinguished in particular for his hatred of the state of Kosovo and the Albanians.

Compared to Goran Bregović - for whom so much dust was raised among Albanians on social networks - Bora Gjorgjevic is hundreds of thousands of times more nationalist and hateful. In Bregoviqi (who, first of all, is a calculator, who has achieved success in music thanks to the ability to plagiarize, and the sense of adaptation in any regime) you find 2-3 hateful statements and here and there a song that could serve as motivation or "inspiration" for the criminal units of Arkan, Frank, the Scorpions, the police, the army and the Serbian paramilitaries. In Gjorgjevic and his Čorba (who from the beginning have promoted Chetnik ideas and iconography in their songs and built the model of rock-roll with opinga, plum brandy and the smell of garlic) there are hundreds of direct anti-Albanian statements, with dozens of songs that incite hatred and violence against Albanians, promotion of Serbism as a power to oppress and subjugate others, glorification of Serbian war criminals of the present and past.

They have desecrated the idea of ​​rock music as an art and a platform that transcends national, ethnic, racial and geographic boundaries, misusing guitar riffs and drum beats to elevate "divine" Serbianism into what is really a chauvinistic farce which lasts for decades.

For those of us who remember well the years of hatred, violence and crime (1981-1999), Bora Gjorgjeviqi and his Çorba are the soundtrack, the soundtrack of the evil that has plagued the entire region in the last four decades, especially of the most evil imaginable evil that in our reality of the 90s manifested itself with the murder of tens of thousands of Albanian children and women, with massacres of hundreds of families, neighborhoods, villages and cities full of innocent civilians, the rape of thousands women, the expulsion of half of the population of Kosovo, and many other inhuman acts, which are difficult to remember and describe.

This one, therefore, came and sang in Leposaviq. Leposaviqi, which on paper is part of Kosovo. He sang for the Serbs of Leposavic. The Serbs of Leposaviq, who on paper are citizens of Kosovo. The Serbs with whom we must live together, and who must live together with us in the Republic of Kosovo.

This one, with derogatory references to Albanians, with inciting songs against Kosovo as a state, against NATO and America, against Europe and in support of Russia and orthodoxy - in Leposaviq comes to cement the division of the north of Kosovo, just as they want to cement it. Vučić's agents with the laying of the foundation stone of the new Serbian University in North Mitrovica, and those who, with threats and fear, discourage the activism of every Serb in Kosovo who does not think like Vučić... and who does not sing like Çorba e Gjorgjevic.

In other words: This greasy chauvinist soup in Leposavic has nothing to do with rock&roll...
