The Ugandan athlete who escaped to Japan has been found

A Ugandan athlete who escaped from his Olympic camp has been found. Police announced Tuesday that 20-year-old weightlifter Julius Ssekitoleko was in the town of Yakkaichi, about 170 kilometers from the training camp in Izumisano.

He has been questioned by the Japanese police. The athlete left the camp last week after missing the Olympic qualification. He supposedly flew home but left a note in his hotel room stating that he wanted to live and work in Japan. Before and during the Olympic Games, athletes are only allowed to move during their accommodation, training or competitions. They are not allowed to come into contact with the local population.
