The Albanian athlete Luiza Gega finished in 13th position in the final race of the 3000 meters steeplechase at the Olympic Games "Tokyo 2020".
Gega finished the final race today with a time of 9:34.10 minutes, while she was 33 minutes behind the winner, Ugandan Peruth Chemutai, who set a national record with a time of 9:01.45. American Courtney Frerichs won the silver medal, while Kenyan Hyvin Kiyeng won the bronze.
Gega had trouble keeping up with the fast pace of the race. In the end, she left behind three contestants, the American Emma Coburn, the Spanish Carolina Robles and the Australian Genevieve Gregson.
Albania continues to remain among the countries that have not yet won an Olympic medal. Weightlifter Briken Calja came close to a medal in Tokyo, but came 4th, only one kilogram away from third place.
