Auditor unsure if the Fund for the treatment of patients abroad will be audited

The Deputy Auditor General, Bezad Halilaj, related to the investigation of the KOHA Group, regarding the mismanagement in the Fund for the treatment of patients abroad, has stated that he is not sure if this Fund will be audited for this, but added that they have followed the treatment that was given to the media in this matter.

"The National Audit Office (NAO) has audited the financial statements. Auditing financial statements does not mean auditing every decision, every particular process. The process goes or simply the audit is done through sampling, we have identified some shortcomings which were presented in the report", he said on KTV's "Tempus" on Tuesday.

According to him, the ZKA has continuously dealt with the issue of health aspects, has conducted performance audits, which he mentioned and also emphasized the request to change the law to give the National Office more space to focus on these issues .

Asked if there will be something more concrete regarding the audit for the Fund, he said that he is not sure.

"I am not sure. When we make the plan... when we make the annual audit plan, we define, identify topics", said Halilaj. "We always select topics by assessing which topic is the most important. However, this is also a very important topic and I consider that it will be taken into account, analyzed and a decision will be made".

For more than two weeks, KOHA has published research regarding the Program for Treatment Outside Public Health Institutions. The research has argued that the process of sending for treatment outside the KKUK has problems already in the first link, which are the public hospitals. The Health Insurance Fund has no control over this program. This has caused private hospitals to be billed at abusive prices many times.
