Social media giant Twitter appears to have implemented a five-second delay that will slow access to sites including the New York Times, Reuters, Instagram and Blue Sky.
Sites with slow loading links include Twitter competitors and news outlets that have been on the bad side of Twitter owner Elon Musk for critical reporting.
The delay appears to involve only "t.co" links, a service that processes and shortens links posted on Twitter, The Washington Post reported.
Musk has been in a constant battle with his critics in the press. In April, Twitter lynched the BBC and NPR as "state-linked media".
That same month Twitter began targeting links on Substack, an independent platform, as unsafe.
