After being overtaken for a while by Apple, Samsung returned to the throne as the world's largest phone maker, writes Reuters.
The International Data Corporation (IDC) Mobile Phone Tracker has released data for the first quarter of 2024, showing that Samsung has regained the lead it held since 2010.
Samsung sold 60.1 million phones worldwide in the first quarter, representing a market share of 20.8 percent. On the other hand, Apple has sold 50.1 million phones, or 17.3 percent of the market.
Both companies reported declines compared to the first quarter of 2023, but Apple's is heavier, reaching 9.5 percent compared to Samsung's 0.7 percent.
In third place in the list of the largest phone manufacturers in the world is Xiaomi with 40.8 million units sold.
