In 1961 something was launched that humanity had never encountered before. A robot.
The first robot, otherwise known as "machine with human activities" was called Unimate, produced by the American engineer George Devol.
The robot was first used in a factory to move hot pieces of metal. It was autonomous, pre-programmed, systematically performing the same dangerous task. Of course it didn't look like a modern day robot. The Unimate was a machine, with a metal lever that performed precise left-right movements.
Technological breakthroughs did not stop there. In fact, they had just begun. In 1966, Shakey the robot was discovered at Stanford in the United States of America. He was given instructions such as "move the cube on the table", and besides the command, he also performed other "voluntary" movements.
Shakey also had modified eyes that could perceive the object in front of him. Nowadays, the world of robotics has advanced a lot. However, the story of robots in essence did not begin with Devol in 1961.
The ancient Hebrews created an object from the earth, in the shape of a man, and called it "golem". This, according to the Jews, would come in handy to do the work and help the poor.
