Mobile operators in the UK are banned from buying new 5G equipment from Huawei after December 31, and must remove all of the Chinese company's 5G equipment from their networks by 2027, writes the BBC.
Britain's Digitization Secretary, Olivier Dowden, announced the decision. These sanctions follow those imposed by Washington on the company, which it says poses a national security risk, something Huawei has denied.
