Murat: AI will eliminate some jobs, but many others will be born

Mira Murati - Artificial intelligence

Mira Murati was born in Albania in 1988. She had won a scholarship in high school to study in Canada, and then studied engineering. Before landing a job at OpenAI, Murati worked at an airline company, and at Tesla where he held the position of senior manager for X car models. At the artificial intelligence company, Murati led the launch of the ChatGPT platform. For a short time, she was also the leader of the company

Artificial intelligence will cause some jobs to disappear, some to be transformed and others to be born, and this, according to Mira Murat, should be used in the era of great technological changes. Jobs that are repetitive and not creative for people, she said, should be replaced

The Head of Technology at OpenAI, Mira Murati, has said that artificial intelligence will inevitably replace some jobs, as according to her "they shouldn't be there if their result is not so qualitative".

In the discussion "AI Everywhere: Transforming Our World, Empowering Humanity", at Dartmouth College in the United States of America, Murat stated that technological developments are rapid, while individual creativity will not disappear, but will improve and expand. .

"I think yes, some jobs will probably go away, but maybe because they shouldn't be there if the content coming out of them isn't as good. But, I really believe that using it (artificial intelligence) as a tool for education and creativity will expand intelligence, creativity and imagination", said Murati.

However, the Albanian has stated that the company that operates with artificial intelligence has not yet clarified what the impact of AI will be at work.

"The first step is actually to help people and understand what the systems are capable of doing, what they can do to integrate into the workflows. Then start anticipating the impact of AI. I think people don't realize how much these tools are already being used and it's not being analyzed at all. Thus, we must study what is happening now with the nature of work, the nature of education", added Murati.

She emphasized further in the interview that AI will enable that some jobs will be discovered in time, and some others will advance.

"I am not an economist, but I certainly foresee that many jobs will change, some will be lost and some jobs will be gained. We don't know exactly what this will look like, but you can imagine how some work is repeated, and people are not advancing further", said the Director of Technology at OpenAI.

Asked whether there will be enough jobs created to compensate for those that will be lost, Murati said that this process has not yet been studied in terms of economic development.

"I think that many jobs will be created, but the weight of the number of jobs, how many jobs have been changed, how many jobs have been lost... I don't know. And I don't think anyone really knows because it's not being rigorously analyzed. I think the economy will be transformed and there will be a lot of value created by these (smart) tools.

She has called on people to use artificial intelligence tools to incorporate them into their professions.
